Fast and Robust Design of Microwave Circuits Using FILPAL
Abstract: This paper presents the fast and robust design process of microwave circuits using an alternative CAD design platform. It may be shown that a robust transmission line circuit is designed in an instant with the aid of an embedded synthesis tool. Different transmission line structures are supported in the design. For a hybrid circuit consisting of lumped and distributed elements, design performance with better accuracy can be produced using the FAST PDK module. The PDK modelling can be accomplished through the packaging of schematic or touchstone in an instant. This feature provides a fast design iteration which is closed to measurement results. Furthermore, the PDK library can be shared between multiple schematics in multiple windows at the same time. This allows the multi-thread simulations with relatively time and cost saving in contrast to the conventional CAD tool. A design example of microwave passive filter circuit is demonstrated along with hardware prototype and measurement results.
